Since Feral I have been thinking a little bit about how I relate to my art, in a physical and mental way.

I've been locked into this idea that I have to draw on the paper that fits on the scanner, that I do finished pencils as much as possible, etc.

In a way, I've been letting the medium - in this case, 8.5 by 11 inch card stock - control my message.

I do this because I hate, hate, hate trying to make sketchbook scans look good.

So on Friday, I changed things up a little. I bought a ballpoint pen, a V-Tech. I used to draw with these, and I got one knowing that it was smudgetastic and hard to draw with. Then I drew a bunch of stuff in a small sketchpad I'd been ignoring.

This was the first. The flying tiger from yesterday was the second. This is a stock kind of pose for me, but it was a good reintroduction to an annoying implement and an irritating medium.
