The fox hunter wears feathers as a charm. These sly warriors feed largely on fowl, from small pheasants on up through the dangerous neolithic turkey. It thus makes sense to wear tokens of their prey. The whip he carries is a cruel but efficient device. The weighted barbs at the end are meant to hook into a ground-dwelling bird and prevent it from flying away. It takes a lot of dexterity to hook the prey without accidentally hooking oneself.I call this pose "the Slink", and not just because it's a fox. As unbalanced and unlikely as it is, it conveys that sense of animalistic sneakiness with a (relatively) human form.
I am quite sure I've drawn this pose before, but tonight, I'm far too tired to seek it out. It would only make me depressed at my lack of creativity.
Actually, I'm probably too tired to get depressed. I've reached that state where fatigue is like a drug. A cheap, dirty drug, with a really sloppy high.
And anyways, I kind of like the face on this one, particularly the eyes. They feel like the first decent eyes I've drawn in about a week. I find that reassuring, especially given how many times I dropped the pencil tonight.
Okay, okay... I'm going to bed.
