I don't draw horseys too often, but today seemed like the day to do it.
Buckshaw is a good friend of mine. He used to be a wolfish kind of guy, but that changed a couple of years ago. I drew the first ever pic of his new persona... it's on the sketch site, way back in the archives, and I find it embarrassingly bad.
A number of other artists have drawn him since, but most of them seemed to focus on the soft, friendly horsey look. That is not how I picture Buckshaw at all. There's a certain raw energy to the guy. It's either a leftover from his more lupine days or the simple cockiness of stallionhood... but it's there and needs to be shown.
So here, with rushed background and all, is my version of Buckshaw. This is much more in line with how I think of him.
And the bulge is quite deliberate this time.
