The plan was to do a group shot of a trio of long-neglected characters of mine. They're science cops, basically. Valdt is the commander. Ilia, the fox, is the head-buster. Not pictured is Illchor, an angsty rookie cheetah with a heart full of more angst.
But Valdy took up too much space, as he is wont to do, And I had trouble even drawing Ilia. Two areas I need serious practice: Group compositions, and drawing women.
This is way rougher than I would like, but I ended up with two problems. One, it's really pretty stupid to do a full-page sketch when your sketchbook only barely fits on the scanner. Two, Photoshop is a bitch goddess. I tried to remove the dark edge at the left with the dodge tool, but the tool had stopped working. Then suddenly it started working again. Then it stopped again. Maybe it was confused by the full range of greys in the image and couldn't decide what was highlight, shadow, or midtone. That seems stupid to me, but it's the only explanation I have.
Oh, and props go to Cirrus Kitfox, who helped me solidify the uniform design.
