The back story is that a long lost robot of ridiculous size has reactivated and is marching on Neo-Neo-Neo Tokyo.� And for added fun, it's a mech from the New Soviet Union, modeled on Tsar Alexander II (who was, apparently, a husky.)
And it seems to have been infected by a nanovirus that likes to make arms into big guns.
