Nothing too ambitious tonight. I'm down with a fever and liable to miss work in the morning. Still, there were things that needed to be done.
Prime among them: Farre. He has become a very personal character to me. It's getting to a point where I feel like I need to stop drawing the individual scenes because they give away the story too much.
One thing that's bugged me about Farre and his associates since the beginning is this: without the facial markings and props, he looks like any of my other wolf characters. Scrawnier maybe, but that's about it.
There's also the problem that none of his tribe seem to have any markings apart from the paint. That's partly deliberate. I decided early on that this tribe was very light in color, basically tan to deep tea-color. That means that under normal sketch conditions their marking variations just don't show up. This seems like a cop-out to me.
So at some point in the future (near, I hope) I need to sit my ass down and work out some model sheets. Actual facial structure. Eyes and noses and fur colors. Lotsa work.
For now, here's a close-up on Farre. Note that the thing in his hands is not a spear.
Forgive my rambling. I've been in a talkative mood lately. Maybe it's the fever.
