It's wierd, but picking up new art supplies and reading art tutorials always has exactly the opposite effect it should... I get very resistant to the idea of starting because I have so much crap in my head I can't possibly know what to use first.
So I fell back on my old trick for inspiration... looking at beefcake photos until something goes 'Ping!' I start drawing. In this case I loved the action and definition in the reference photo.
The mane... the mane is there for two reasons. One, I really really wanted to draw fluff tonight. Two, it covers up the line of the back, which for some reason was unnaturally straight in the photo.
Originally it was supposed to look more fierce, and less obviously sexy, but I couldn't bring myself to put a growl on his lips.
