Valdt returns after a very long absence.
Valdt is another character I struggle with. After four months I think I've finally started to get his look down, what with the distinctive eyebrow marks and the german shepherd ears. Where I find I have trouble is his motivation.
Valdt's the big muscle, in more ways than one. He's the captain, and the strong guy. He's a joker and a lecher. Compared to Ilia and Illchor, he's quite light-hearted. He's bi, and would happily play with either of them, but he's smitten with the dark, broody, sulky Illchor.
But
why? I've been trying to come up with some explanation for years. Opposites Attract is a really overworn cliche. Shouldn't rank interfere? And if it did, do I really want to drag out the story with plot gyrations to allow it?
On a technical note, I must have been insane to tackle this pose in my present mental state. I'm dropping dead from insomnia, the reference photo had no legs or elbows in frame, and the lighting made no sense. Yet I went ahead and tried to impose order on it while barely able to stay awake. These are the sacrifices I make for my art, I guess.
